8.2
I agree very much with the chapter. I remember as a child I wanted to have so many bizarre jobs, but of course children are open minded and inspired quite easily by movies, cartoons, ans people they are surrounded by. The rest is left to their imagination. Near the end of childhood, most likely towards sernior year of high school they begin to realize they set realistic goals for themselves. Some jobs are glamorous but every job has its downfalls. Most young adults don't realize the qualifications or requirements there is to every job and secondary education most employers or jobs require after high school life.
8.1
Mental disorders throughout history has been looked down upon. In the video they showed how they use to drill a hole into the skull to "release the demons". People feared it more than understanding it. There has been seen that surgery done on certain areas of the brain that has been removed to change the personality of a person completely.

7.2
Conformity is more of an agreement between two or more people or group and Leadership is taking on one or more responsibility of a group and the blame of the actions of the group. People who tend to be more of passive people are most likely going to take the roll of a follower or a employee for those who don't like to draw too much attention to themselves or unsure of themselves. Aggressive personalities tend to be the leaders or boss and usually like to be in control or higher authority of others. they usually have no problem taking charge and telling people what to do.
Being too much of one of these can be a negative thing also. Being too passive can make you a victim of abuse in the workplace for not speaking up for yourself and your rights as an employee and being too aggressive an hurt a person's reputation, leaving a impression of a bully. Some people get a sense of power and can abuse their authority upon others as well, leading into serious situations in the workplace as well.

Its interesting how the brain understands or preceives pictures or objects. The brain automatically uses it's sensory to adapt the information. The eye's retna has a down-up and up-down vision. The retna preceives what it knows or should be seen. Perceptions must work fast on visuals, since we take in so much information at a time. If it were to work slow then a everyday task would be a very long process. Sometimes the brain also creates shapes that do not even exists.
6.3 Power of Persuasion
Power of Persuasion can be used in many ways depending on how you are approached it can be positive or a negative experience. For many business it is a positive one, they pay radio stations to play their advertisements to come in, especially this time of the year for SALES! This can be a negative thing for people who like to spend over their budget limits. It's all in the power of the beholder really. Power of Persuasion can be a much more dangerous thing, used by criminals especially. Criminals who kidnap kids and etc. use their psychology or reverse psychology skills on the vulnerable ones to persuade others in doing deeds or whatever else they have in mind. It is a sad situation and that's why parents are warned or are more aware of how to teach their kids about what to do in certain situations and how to prevent it.
6.2
Prejudice and discrimination are closely related but are not exactly the same thing. Prejudice is damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard of one's rights. Discrimination is the failure to treat people equally because of a bias based on characteristic such as race, religion, sex, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, and disability. For example: a business owner may not like Filipinos but treat them as if they were any other race just because he needs their business, this would be considered being prejudice. A example of discrimination would be: not hiring a Filipino because they don't like Filipinos. So in a sense prejudice is not liking someone for certain characteristics but still treating them like anyone else because they can help you in some personal way and discrimination is not liking someone for certain characteristics and acting upon any manner not to help them out or succeed in whatever they are trying to reach.
This difference helps us understand the challenge in our culture because many people walk into job interviews knowing they are just as qualified as the person next in line and having a great shot at it but sometimes walk out never knowing why they really didn't get the position. Especially elderly people who make the effort to better their lifestyles, being discriminated for their age group and being under-minded for what they might be or not be capable of. I think people just need to not judge a book by its cover.

6.1self esteem
In this chapter it speaks of ,"People with low self-esteem don't seem to know themselves in as much detail as those with high self-esteem."
I think this is true for people at any age group. Many people going through their teenage years especially. Going through high school especially trying to discover what they want in life and who they want to be within themselves. It takes years and years to realize certain aspects in your life and sometimes re-evaluating those goals and dreams. Some people view themselves totally different from how others see them as well. Over time, step by step people unfold new details or characteristics that they never noticed or thought they could do for or of themselves. Somewhat like an onion, unfolding each layer of their personality and getting down to the core of who they really are or what they've become.

Impressions
Impressions are a big influence on how people precieve us. Not many people think about how important it is to do so. All throughout live people usually judge you on how you carry yourself and how you overall look physically even if they mean to or not. In school if you were the class clown you were typically the one too busy making people laugh you probably had low grades, if you were quiet and kept to your self you were probably the one with great grades, typical stereotypes. When you go on dates the first impression determines whether or not someone is willing to go further in the relationship or even have one with someone. In the job world, especially in the business aspect of it all it is a great impact on everything. How you carry youreslf, personality, and even the way you dress can make or break you. It is always important you are aware of how you appear in public, not in a self-aborbed way but just know people are always basing their friendships and other relations with you on your personality and etc. Carry yourself thy way you want others to precieve you.
Coping
Coping with problems is very important to keep your sanity. their are many ways you can get through situations. If you get yourself into a situation there is always a way out. At the heighth of the stress of course you will feel helpless, but just give it time and calm down.
Seeking help is one thing you can always do. You are never alone in anything. Talking to someone can help see this point. There is always conselors, many people don't want to go see conselors because they feel embarrassed or feel they will be judged on their situations when really they are their to provide help and support. Remember nobody is against you or is attacking you on a negative basis to purposely hurt you.
Releasing Pent-up Emotions is another good way to help get it off your chest. Going to the gym, going for walks, or taebo can help reduce this. The more anger you build up you tend to build up your blood pressure which can result in bad health problems which will only add to the situation. People can become violent as well, so doing something productive or active you can take out on a punching bag or on something else on a positive note.
Meditating seems to be a great way to deal with stress also. Take some time out of your day to release the negative energy and relaxand breathe. People tend to feel more calm and at peace with their surroundings and themselves. Understanding themselves as individuals and possibly taking on new perspectives on things or new outlooks on life.

Stress Chart
Stress overall differs for everyone on many levels and how a person matures has an individual can also make a great impact on how they precieves the situations they are dealing with. For younger people in their teens can also feel the stress of school and relationships. Relationships and the dramas within itself are the most intense for teenagers. For older adults especially with a whole family to take care of feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. Paying for bills, taxes, making sure their kids are safe and situated, maintaining a decent job with good benefits, and keeping their marriage together can feel mind boggling if one thing slips through the cracks.
Many feel that stress in the word itself is scare when sometimes stress can be a postitive thing. For example, when a student knows their grade is depending on a test they tend to stress over it more than usual so they concentrate harder and study much more than they probably have. For adults stress can be a positive thing, for example, pushing for time on a deadline for a presentation for a company. Adults tend to work on projects more when rushed and go the extra mile, sometimes this results in getting a promotion or raise if done right.
This chart on stress shows all the different varies of areas where stress can be related to everyone. Many or most describe how much everyday life can really boggle you down. Sometimes if things get worse in situations people go under depression or even leading to suicide as sad as it sounds its true. You hear many stories of people who can to end things and take the "easy" way out. Sometimes we need to re-evaluate our lives and step back and breathe.

stress: burnout
"Burnout involves physical and emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and a lowered sense of self-efficacy that is attributable to work-related stress." For most that I personally know this is more popular for those who live in the city than in the country side or elsewhere. For example, New York is a fast pace city where everyone is on the go trying to make a quick, fast buck, or constantly busy doing something for their company or whatnot. They feel the pressure of deadlines and living up to standards of what society expects of themselves. People who live in smaller communities tend to be more easy going and tend to appreciate their surroundings and comforts of home.

"Many theorists believe that the basic challenge of of modern life has become the search for meaning or a sense of direction."
I believe this to be true. In today's world especially. We've all felt the pressures of life, light or heavy on our shoulders. Each person is just one of the million people on this earth trying to make ends meet. Most situations are different, from some others point of view seems like nothing and to others like everything. But none the less to every individual, a problem that stresses to their fitted lifestyles and commendations. We act just as robots do, with a routine to do daily, tasks as an endless cycle, its hard just to put things down to see the bigger picture and reflect on life or its meaning or even the the direction we wanted to take. Most of the time its not what direction we want to take but what we have to take.

trauma
In the chapter about stress it shows a graph with the different types of trauma and the percentage difference between me and women. Its interesting how there is a high percentage of women traumatized by physical attacks but not by much and an extremely higher percent of men traumatized by witnessing severe injury or death. I always figured that women would be much more traumatized by witnessing severe injury or death because it seems more women get emotional and that would play a big role in that type of situation.

multiple personalities
I find its pretty crazy how people with multiple personality disorders and their families deal with it on a daily basis. Is it possible to ever get someone out of the disorder or is there a chemical imbalance in their brains that will not allow that from happening? I thought I'd just put that out there...
